Over the last couple of years I have become obsessed with makeup, in fact a friend of a friend who has been following my blog asked if I had indulged in a little plastic surgery. This isn’t true, I haven’t gone under the knife or had botox. I think the reason why she might have thought that I had work done is because I have got to grips with the transformative power of make-up.
Unfortunately, all of my favourite brands are on the expensive side – Bobbi Brown, Charlotte Tilbury, Lipstick Queen, Nars, Kevyn Aucoin, and Tom Ford line my fantasy make-up bag. If I had the money, I would be constantly buying the latest and greatest products on the market. That said, there is loads of excellent stuff available at a lower price point – Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation is marvellous. However, there are a few essentials that I think are worth the money. I often do a super quick smokey eye using a few brilliant brands. When it comes to eye make-up, especially eye liner, you get what you pay for. The cheaper brands tend to have a less creamy formula that drag across the eyelid damaging the delicate skin causing wrinkles. Bobbi Brown’s long wear cream shadow stick is fantastic, you just smoosh it all over the lid and blend for a lovely even coverage. Elizabeth Arden’s Smokey Eye pencil is a perfect balance of precision and softness to define and create a beautiful cats eye effect. To finish, Charlotte Tilbury’s Full Fat Lashes Mascara is without doubt the best mascara I have ever used. I tend to do a smokey eye in browns rather than black because I think it’s more flattering.
